Pleasant View Baptist Church – History
Founded on March 28, 1937, Pleasant View Baptist Church began as a humble vision brought to life by Reverend Zephaniah Turk and a small group of faithful believers. The first services were held in a shared space on Old Apopka Road, but by 1938, the young congregation built its own modest sanctuary—a testament to their dedication and growing faith. Just two years later, continued growth led to the need for a larger worship space.

Reverend Turk shepherded the church faithfully until 1959, when health concerns required him to step back, supported by Reverend Daniel Moore and others. In 1964, the congregation celebrated the completion of a new sanctuary. Reverend Turk passed away in 1967, leaving behind a legacy of faith, perseverance, and spiritual leadership.

Over the years, Pleasant View’s journey has been guided by a series of devoted pastors:
  • Rev. L.W. Wilson served as interim during the sanctuary dedication.
  • Rev. Jack Mitchell led during a time of transition, during which the first church split occurred, resulting in the formation of Unity Missionary Baptist Church.
  • Rev. N.A. Watson (1969–1971)
  • Rev. Howell (1972)
  • Rev. K.E. Rogers (1972–1992) served for two decades of steady leadership and spiritual growth.
  • Rev. Herbert Jackson (1992–2000), during whose tenure the second church split took place, leading to the formation of Fountain of Life Church.

In 2001, Rev. Dr. Michael D. Warren was called to lead. Over the next 21 years, he faithfully guided the church, expanding both its ministries and physical property. His leadership brought renewal and vision until his passing in 2022.

Following a prayerful pastoral search, Rev. Dr. Willie E. Caison, Sr. was called to serve as pastor on March 24, 2023, officially beginning his ministry on May 21, 2023.
Since then, under Dr. Caison’s dynamic leadership, Pleasant View has experienced revitalization—both spiritually and operationally. Immediate improvements were made to the sanctuary, staffing expanded to include full-time administrative and technical support, and worship was enhanced with the introduction of live streaming and modern media outreach.

Through every trial, transition, and triumph, Pleasant View Baptist Church has remained steadfast in its mission: to serve God, love one another, and be a beacon of light in the community. From a modest beginning in 1937 to the vibrant ministry it is today, the church stands as a testament to God’s faithfulness.

Our motto continues to inspire us: "Reaching Beyond, Growing Together."
